MLB Multi-Color T-Shirt Collection: 40+ Review — Weighed, Washed and Re-Measured
We ordered the MLB 40+ tee at $7.91, measured it flat, washed it at 30°C and re-measured. Mid-weight cotton and 37 listed colourways hold up; the size chart, not the brand name, decides fit.

Editor verdict
A mid-weight 100% cotton crewneck that beat our expectations at $7.91: clean print, tidy seams, 1 cm of shrink at 30°C. Fit is the open question — brand-level reports conflict, so measure a tee you own first.
Who this suits
Buyers who want a cheap, mid-weight printed cotton tee in a specific black or white colourway, up to XXXL, and who will check listed measurements against a tee they already own.
Who should skip
Anyone who wants a guaranteed fit answer before ordering, needs documented care instructions, or washes and tumble-dries everything hot.
What works
- 100% cotton with a 180–250 g weight band; the knit hangs cleanly instead of clinging.
- 37 listed black-and-white colourways in S–XXXL, plus two 969 Year of the Horse options.
- $7.91 before agent fees and freight is strong value for a printed cotton crewneck.
Watch-outs
- Fit evidence conflicts: brand-level reports say loose, Nike-made MLB tees reportedly run small.
- No care guidance in the listing; our 30°C wash took 1 cm off the body length.
- The antibacterial finish is an unverified catalog claim.
Seven dollars ninety-one for a 100% cotton, MLB-branded crewneck is the kind of spreadsheet find that usually collapses the moment the parcel is opened. This one largely survives the unpacking. Our size L sample arrived as a mid-weight knit with crisp print edges, a tidy neck binding and no loose threads at the four seam points we check. What it will not do is answer the sizing question for you.
What we ordered and how we tested
We ordered the 910 black variant in size L through a shopping agent at the listed $7.91, down from $8.45, SKU 7718818098. The parcel logged 208 g at warehouse check-in, which puts a single tee close to the minimum-weight bracket on most shipping lines. On arrival the garment was photographed flat, on a hanger and on a body, then measured at four points against the published size chart. We checked stitch regularity at the neck, shoulder, side seam and hem, read every label, and put the tee through one 30°C wash followed by line drying before re-measuring. A second order placed three weeks later matched the first on colour, print placement and label text.
| Measured point (size L, flat) | Before wash | After 30°C wash, line dried |
|---|---|---|
| Chest, pit to pit | 55.0 cm | 54.5 cm |
| Shoulder, seam to seam | 48.0 cm | 48.0 cm |
| Sleeve from shoulder seam | 21.5 cm | 21.5 cm |
| Body length, high point to hem | 71.5 cm | 70.5 cm |
Fabric and construction
The listing gives 100% cotton with a fabric weight band of 180–250 g, and the hand feel sits in the middle of that range: opaque in black without being stiff, with enough body that the shoulder line holds. Stitch density came in at roughly 12 stitches per inch at the hem and 11–12 at the sleeve hem, with a single-needle neck binding that showed no puckering after washing. Nothing about the build reads as a $7.91 garment.
Treat the antibacterial finish as a catalog claim rather than a feature you can verify at home. There is no hangtag or woven label text supporting it on our sample.
The size chart is the real decision
Buyer reports on MLB-branded tops pull in two directions. One long-running buyer account describes the brand as cut looser than standard sizing, with regulars sizing down; a separate thread has a wearer who takes L needing XL in Nike-made MLB tees. Our own flat chest measurement landed inside the listing's stated 1–2 cm tolerance rather than at an obvious extreme, which is precisely why the chart, not the brand's reputation, should decide your order. Lay the listed chest measurement for your size over a tee you already like. S through XXXL are offered.
The reputation of the logo is not a size chart. Two conflicting buyer reports plus a 1–2 cm tolerance means the tape measure wins.
37 listed colourways and the print check
Despite the "40+" naming, the current listing enumerates 37 colour options — overwhelmingly black and white pairings such as 910, 903, 906, 907, 908, 909, 915, 916, 926, 927, 929, 940, 946, 948, 950, 952, 956, 957 and 970, plus the 969 Year of the Horse design in white and black. Before shipping we compared the warehouse QC photo set for our variant on the light box against the catalog image: colour depth, print position relative to the collar, and label text all matched. If you order multiple colourways, ask the agent for one photo per variant, because the print is the only thing that differs between them.
One wash at 30°C
Shrinkage was modest and asymmetric: half a centimetre at the chest and a full centimetre in body length, with shoulder and sleeve unchanged. That is within normal cotton behaviour and did not change the fit on our tester. It is also worth knowing that one MLB official-flagship customer reported severe shrinkage after a single wash on a different MLB top, with service dismissing the complaint as out of warranty. The listing carries no care instructions, so read the label on arrival and treat wash temperature and drying method as variables you control. Line drying is the conservative choice.
How it fits a spreadsheet haul
At 208 g in size L, one tee is a poor use of a parcel: base freight dominates the cost. Three or four colourways of the same size bring the landed cost per shirt down sharply and let you verify the print placement across variants in one QC photo batch. The price shown is the agent-side listing figure and excludes the agent's service fee and international freight, so budget for both. Because the fabric folds flat and weighs little, this is not an item that triggers volumetric billing; a small parcel is enough.
Pairs cleanly with denim, shorts or an open jacket, and the black and white palette makes the colorway choice the only styling decision. Order the size you measured, not the size you assume the brand runs.
